Hermansen: Baltic Sea Cup skal give erfaring

I sidste uge præsenterede DBU en ny turnering, Baltic Sea Cup, der skal være med til at give unge danske spillere mere international erfaring.

Det er en turnering for U21-hold, og OB er en af tre danske klubber, der skal være med. De andre danske klubber er AaB og FCK, mens også Halmstad, Union Berlin, Hertha Berlin og Pogon Stettin er med.

OB skal spille fire kampe, to hjemme og to ude, og de skal spille mod Halmstad, AaB, Union Berlin og Pogon Stettin.

For at blive lidt klogere på den nye turnering tog vi en snak med talentchef, Tonny Hermansen, så han kunne fortælle lidt om idéen omkring Baltic Sea Cup.

– Man snakker så meget om at få nogle internationale kampe for de her unge knægte, der ligger lige i laget fra U19 og til Superligaen, og så har man sagt i DBU, at det vil man prøve at undersøge. Så har man undersøgt muligheden for at lave sådan en turnering, og det har man gjort ud fra, at der er Champions League Youth for ungdom, og så har man sagt, at man vil prøve at lave noget, der giver vores unge mennesker en mulighed, og derfor har de lavet et samarbejde med Polen, Sverige og Tyskland.

– Det var meningen, at det var nummer to og tre, der skulle deltage fra Danmark, men fordi der var et hold fra Sverige, der sprang fra, så valgte de at spørge os, og vi har sagt ja til at være med. Det handler om, at vi skal spille fire internationale kampe. Den ene bliver så godt nok mod AaB, fordi der nu er tre danske hold med, men ellers skal vi møde Halmstad allerede den 29. august, vi skal møde Union Berlin, vi skal møde AaB, og vi skal møde Pogon fra Polen, inden året er omme.

– Det er egentlig dét, det handler om, at vi får nogle transitionskampe med vores unge, og dem der er oppe på Superligaen, som er op til årgang 1997, men udover det må man også have to for gamle spillere med.

Hvad får OB ud af at deltage i sådan en turnering?

– Vi har jo de seneste år deltaget i rigtig mange turneringer med vores unge mennesker. Vi synes, det er en vigtig del i forhold til at udvikle vores spillere til at kunne matche de krav, der stilles, når man spiller internationalt, og det har vi jo haft rigtig stor succes med på vores ungdomshold, så der er ingen tvivl om, at når man får den slags kampe, så er det internationale kampe, hvor vi selvfølgelig spiller om noget, og de får også noget erfaring i at spille internationale kampe på udebane, hvor der også er noget på spil.

Når det er en U21-turnering, vil det så sige, at spillere som Julius Eskesen, Oliver Christensen og Mads Frøkjær kan deltage i de kampe?

– Ja, og udover det må der være to for gamle spillere med, og så må der også være to spillere fra andre klubber med, hvilket vil sige at hvis vi kan finde nogen af dem, der spiller i 2. divisionsklubberne, så kan de også være med.

Der er seks hold med udover os, men vi skal kun møde de fire, hvorfor det?

– Det er fordi, at det i første omgang var lavet sådan, at der var to puljer, men i og med at der var et polsk hold, der trak sig, så var vi syv hold tilbage, og man fandt så ud af, at der kun var planer om at lave fire kampe, og så var det meningen, at vi ikke skulle møde AaB og FCK, når vi render og spiller mod dem herhjemme. Så i bund og grund handler det bare om at finde fire datoer ud af de fem mulige, og det blev så sådan.

Hvad er vores mål for turneringen?

– Hver eneste gang vi spiller fodboldkampe, uanset om det er træningskamp, eller hvad det er, så handler det om at vinde, men det handler jo primært om at give de unge mennesker noget hår på brystet og lære dem at spille mod andre hold end danske og få den internationale erfaring, det er hovedmålet med det her.

Hvor spiller vi vores kampe henne?

– Som udgangspunkt spiller vi den første på Odense Stadion, og så håber vi på, at vejret holder, for så er tanken, at det bliver et setup som en normal reserveholdskamp, hvor vi spiller kampene på Odense Stadion. Vi spiller på hjemmebane mod Halmstad og mod Union Berlin.

Det er kun den første kamp, der er fastsat indtil videre. Den spilles hjemme mod Halmstad på Odense Stadion den 29. august kl. 16.00.
