OC debuterede på landsholdet: Kendetegnende for min karriere

I sidste uge blev Oliver Christensen noget overraskende udtaget til det danske landshold, da coronaen var skyld i, at flere andre måtte melde afbud.

Den unge målmand er stolt af hans udtagelse, og det var en stor oplevelse for ham at være med, og han er især glad for, at han fik kampen mod Sverige.

– Det var selvfølgelig utrolig fedt. Det var en fed oplevelse, og det var nogle rigtig dygtige spillere. Jeg lærte en masse på de 4-5 træninger, jeg havde. Det var en rigtig fed oplevelse, og det var selvfølgelig prikken over i’et, at jeg spillede kampen mod Sverige.

‘Gribben fra Kerteminde’ var i første omgang udtaget som yderste mandat, men et par corona-karantæner betød, at han lige pludselig var førstevalg.

– Det var selvfølgelig en mærkelig oplevelse, det siger lidt sig selv. Det var underligt, men det er også en underlig tid, man lever i. Der skal ikke så meget til, før man lige pludselig får chancen, og det gjorde jeg så. Det er held i uheld, at jeg får den chance. Det er selvfølgelig ærgerligt for de andre, at de ikke kan spille den kamp, for der var også nogle af dem, der havde glædet sig til at komme ind og få chancen og vise, hvad de kunne, men verden ville det ikke sådan, og det endte med, at jeg stod, og det er jeg selvfølgelig glad for.

Til kampen mod Sverige var det Thomas Mikkelsen, der var med i truppen sammen med Oliver Christensen. De to har tidligere spillet sammen med OB, og den unge målmand var også glad for, at det var Mikkelsen, der kom med.

– Det var selvfølgelig hyggeligt. Det er altid dejligt at se Thomas, han er en topfyr, og det var selvfølgelig også fedt for ham, at han kunne få lov til at være med der. Han er ved at være en gammel ræv, og det er selvfølgelig ærgerligt for ham, at han ikke kom ind, og skulle spille. Jeg har jo mange år foran mig endnu, og uden at fornærme Thomas for meget, så har han jo nok ikke så mange år endnu.

– Man skal huske at være god ved Thomas, selvom han er fra Munkebo, for han er en rigtig god fyr, og det skal han sgu også være, når jeg siger det om en fra Munkebo. Han får nok ikke chancen igen Thomas, så man kunne godt unde ham, at han også var kommet ind og spille, men det blev mig, der fik alle 90 minutter, og det er jeg selvfølgelig glad for.

Efter træningskampen mod Sverige blev Christensen sendt ned på U21-landsholdet, da nogle af de andre målmænd igen blev tilgængelige, og det havde han slet ikke noget problem med.

– Det var fint. Det er jo sådan, det er. Jeg havde selvfølgelig gerne set, at jeg kunne fortsætte sammen med A-landsholdet, men når både Schmeichel og Lössl kommer tilbage, så må man vige pladsen. De er foran mig, og det ændrer en enkelt kamp ikke på. Jeg skal gå ind og arbejde hårdt for at komme med igen, og forhåbentlig har jeg lagt et fint indtryk. De ved, de kan stole på mig, selvom der er pres på, og jeg mener, jeg fik vist, at det ikke kun er træninger, jeg er god til, men at jeg også kan stå for presset, når vi spiller kamp.

Det er lidt mere end to år siden, Oliver Christensen spillede sin første Superligakamp for OB. Det var dog også den eneste kamp, han spillede frem til sidste sommer, hvor han blev fast mand på holdet.

Det er derfor hurtigt i hans karriere, han spiller sin første A-landskamp, og det havde han heller ikke lige regnet med.

– Nej, det havde jeg selvfølgelig ikke. Det er måske lidt en unaturlig vej, jeg har taget, for det er gået meget hurtigt. Normalt går der lidt længere tid, før man bevæger sig den vej, for det er jo en proces for en fodboldspiller, og normalt tager man jo små skridt ad gangen.

– For mit vedkommende har det været meget godt kendetegnende for min karriere, at jeg får den landskamp, for det var også sådan, da jeg debuterede for OB, at der pludselig manglede to målmænd, som var ude med skader. Så fik jeg chancen der, og nu manglede der så fire på landsholdet, og så fik jeg chancen der.

– Jeg ved godt, hvor jeg selv er, og hvor jeg hører til henne, og lige nu er det på U21-landsholdet, og forhåbentlig kan jeg udvikle mig godt og komme endnu mere med ind omkring A-landsholdet, men jeg ved også godt, at de andre målmænd er dygtige, og de er bedre end mig.

Selvom debuten på landsholdet skyldtes, at fire andre målmænd havde meldt afbud, så kan Oliver Christensen altså lige nu betragtes som 5. valg på det danske landshold, og det tager han også som et skulderklap.

– Det kan man jo godt kalde det, at jeg er, og det er selvfølgelig et stort skulderklap. Der er mange dygtige målmænd i Danmark, og vi har en del, der står i udlandet, så det er selvfølgelig et skulderklap.

Den legendariske OB-målmand, Mogens Therkildsen, har fortalt, at han lærte det danske landshold at synge, første gang han var udtaget. Oliver Christensen gik dog ikke i hans fodspor.

– Jeg tror ikke, jeg har lært dem så mange ting, andet end de har fået at se, hvordan man er, når man kommer fra Kerteminde. Det er nok det eneste, jeg har lært dem. Jeg har ikke lært dem det store, for vi var jo inde på værelset hele tiden, og jeg synger heller ikke så godt.
